Top 100 people of 2007/USA Today By Whitney Matheson 74. Johnny Marr. The former Smiths guitarist re-entered the spotlight as a member of Modest Mouse, and his unmistakable sound can be heard all over We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank. Now, if only we could get Marr's band to open for Morrissey, and then Andy Rourke could be waiting in the wings... see where I'm going with this?

However, these writers who pine away for some sort of Smiths reunion really do Morrissey and Marr a disservice, not to mention demonstrates their lack of familiarity on the subject as to why the Smiths ended the way they did and why some some sort of jolly reunion could never happen, even if it was just M & M. These guys are not Led Zeppelin, nor do they wish to be!
M & M are proud of what they achieve in the last 20 years or so. They once did some great work together, but now they have moved on.
