In the magazine section of to-day's Sunday Tribune (Dublin, Ireland) the well known restaurant owner Paul Flynn writes about why Morrissey is his hero. He says "People might wonder why I've chosen to talk about such an unfriendly and unapproachable character, but it's all about the music for me... I actually find his music uplifting." He also refers to Morrissey's Killarney gig in 2006 in which he said that venue was '...full of fatties and beer bellies' with Moz adding the quip 'Don't blame me...because I'm just pointing out what I see.'

Such a character (Score:1)

Paul Flynn is admired for his restaurants and cookery books but Morrissey would probably bracket him in there with the Jamie Olivers of this world. Also if Flynn hasn't met Morrissey, it's very poor form that he describes him on hearsay as unfriendly and unapproachable. In what way then is Morrissey his hero, is it the music?

Did Morrissey really say that?

He really disappoints me when he says things like that. That's so small of him. So mean and flippant.

I really don't understand how he can be so ignorant about such things.

We've discussed this here (on morrissey-solo)before, that for some reason journalists in particular like to portray Mozza's concert audiences as almost exclusively male. I don't understand that -- at least in America, it's simply not true. I've been to loads of Morrissey shows over the years, and there are always plenty of women there: I'd say about 50 percent, maybe more.
