Some stores in the UK have ROTT already : I bought my copy of the CD/DVD edition from Steve Sounds in London yesterday. (Steve Sounds are known for importing from elsewhere).

I've posted a review of the release at www.thefinalword.co.uk.

  • I'd like to get it sooner if I could. :-)

  • I read this review and hadn't laughed for a while I noticed, by contrast.

  • As Far as I remember Steves Sounds is a tiny little CD shop in China Town near Leicester Square tube station. They are well known (to some people at least?) for selling promo stuff which the record label excecutives and radio station workers working in the West End would flog there for a few quid. They sell promos and all sort of "loose" stock which is floating around. They also sell some second-hand stuff. The shop is an independent affair and I do believe that them selling official copies of ROTT is utter bollocks.

  • I just visited Steve's Sounds and got a copy of the CD/DVD. The store-owner said he had about 3 or 4 copies left. He bought them from journalists etc who had received review copies (although I notice the CDs have blurb stickers on their quoting reviews from Mojo and Observer Music Monthly, so they can't be too old).
I told him about morrissey-solo.com, which he bemusedly took a look at (seeing his store mentioned).

  • This happened last time around as well.

Amazon sent all their pre-order copies out 5 days ahead of the release date in 2004.

I said it last time, and I'll say it again, I just hope this does not affect the sales, because the sales are judged from midnight on Sunday/Monday evening until the following Sunday mid-day.
If CDs are being sold at the moment, how can we guarantee the sales will be included in next weeks charts?

  • Picked up a copy as well at Steve's Sounds. It's a great shop for bargains and rare promos. They had a goood selection of YAMQ promos either on boxes on the counter or right of the counter as you walk in. I also found a 12" promo of Suedehead in there several years ago. Staff are friendly esp Cameron and Antony and have in the past put stuff to one side for me.

Many record shops get copies in early, a few will sell them, mostly independents, before release date if you ask nicely.

  • ..they still have copies, well worth a trip if you are in town, have to say its growing on me. They were playing it in the shop and customer feedback seemed pretty good from what they said. The last time this happened was when the Arctic Monkeys album came out.

  • Bought a copy (Limited Edition with a DVD) on Friday evening. Shrink-wrapped with a sticker - definetely the real thing.
The CD case has a lovely design and comes with a small poster and a lyrics booklet.
They seemed to have quite a few. The bloke was very friendly and said "Great choice mate!"
They also had a couple of promo copies of YHKM (1 track CD).

Got ROTT in my iPod now!

  • ....they had considered opening Sunday. Thankfully they close after 7pm so I managed to get one after work Saturday night. I'll have the rest of the weekend to get my head around the new album. Good shop, a lot of new stock is £8 including stuff you dont see in Tesco etc.

    Cheers!
