Dicky Barrett Speaks: "I Was Fired that Day" - LAVoice.org

Dickie says: ...When I made an on air remark about not liking the new overplayed Morrissey track I was marched into the President of Entravisions office...

Writer of article comments: ...I agree - I'm sick to death of hearing the Morrissey tune more than twice a day, not to mention the other 12 songs they have in brain-dead heavy rotation. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the next KROQ - unless the listeners demand better...

  • There is no such thing as an overplayed Moz track!

  • Having read Dicky's statement it didn't seem like he had an issue with Morrissey directly. It was the changing station policy. Like all good things
once it gets popular the accountants come in and destroy it. The day they mess with Steve Jones is the day Indie 103.1 will die.
"You Have Killed Me" is the worst Moz track I've ever heard it starts of nicely then goes nowhere fast. I wish he would bring Marr in as a co-writer just for recording. The Bar has been set at a new low and needs to go up.

  • Where did (or didn't, I should say) this twat learn how to write? His explanation was written so poorly it was almost painful for me to read.

I listened to Indie 103's morning show over the Internet once a few months ago, on the anniversary of John Lennon's death, actually. I don't remember if he was the DJ when I listened. Whoever was the DJ was a douchebag for attempting to make jokes out of that morning's tragic news stories.

I agree with the earlier commenter that this doesn't really have anything to do with Morrissey

  • Dickey didn't complain when KROQ used to play The Bosstones to death....what a joke that was! I look at this as payback on the part of us all that had to endure that crap over and over again!

    At least Mozz has talent!

  • Indie 1031 had a good start, and had a good thing back in the Clear Channel days. Dickie is right about the way the station has become. Its to bad they let idiots take over something that could have been so good. Indie is and has become a money pit rather than a part of culture, and the people running the station never realized the station was more than a business. Go back to KIIS FM you cunts!

  • ...he gets Dickie Bosstone fired!

One scary thought though- if Dickie doesn't have a job as a DJ anymore maybe he'll go back to making music. Lets hope not for humanity's sake!

Only when I'm dancing can I feel this free...
  • I'm surprised by the negative responses to this station. Yes, they overplay some songs, but for the most part, they play tons and tons of stuff you don't ever hear on the radio. I'd like to see Jonsey STFU some of the time and play more music in the afternoons, but it's still a kick-arse station.

KROQ, on the other hand, plays alterna-crap about 80% of the time.
