I couldn't hear it too well, quite choppy, but it was a very favorable review overall.

A few things the editor said:

He said he liked the album more than Quarry, it was more of a 'rock-and-roll' album, and that the band finally sounded like a complete unit.

He said that even though he was a Morrissey fan, he thought non-fans would really like it as well.

He mentioned the 4 Manchester dates and said he'd heard there'd be a 'massive' tour as well; he thought overall the album and tour would be successful, especially coming on the heels of the success of the last tour and album.

He thought there were 3 or 4 singles in the vein of FOTGTD on it as well.

He also said that it seemed to be the first time that Morrissey was 'singing directly to another person', rather than just being vague. (Don't know what to make of that...)

I like Oasis, however...

it sounds like it's gonna be off the hiizzook!!!... Umm, excuse me I got a bit carried away there... It sounds as if the new album will be quite good.

Isn't this what those who were against a - purely speculative - Moz/Marr reunion gave as a reason for it being a bad idea?

I def. recall people saying "it would sound like Oasis".

And now, it seems, Boz, Alain and Jesse have made that very album.

considering how this is a major world-wide NME scoop, it all sounds a bit lukewarm to me.

a little more confident than Quarry? maybe 3 songs as good as First of the Gang? A bit like Oasis?

To me, what I get from the interview is that he is referring to the "big" sound when referencing it with Oasis. He was using it as a contrast to Quarry, which at times unlike the 3(!) albums before it, seemed a bit shallow at times, Malajusted being the particular example, where the music is very, very "full" indeed. Oasis, although I despise them, have a very "full" sound, and you have to remember it's an interview, so he must use a famous, well known band as an example, which the interviewer will understand instantly. In this respect, Oasis is an obvious choice.

So, he isn't saying the record is like Oasis at all.

Sounds like a big, cohesive, accessible album that people will like. Good for Moz. What I find most intriguing is the "singing directly to another person" comment. "You have Killed Me," Eh?

Can't hardly wait.

I will see you in far off places- heaviest Moz track yet....verging on metal....fantastic and bombastic.
dear god.....- Lyric "dragging my heart trough Rome on a string..." a ballad...very nice. gorgeous strings
you have killed me- obvious single..very catchy....a bit like FOTG but heavier....."i have forgiven you..." at the end
youngest was the most loved- fast and catchy.."you were the cherub.."
in the future when alls well- another fast rock track..catchy...intense and funny lyrics..
the father who must be killed- doomy atmospheric track "stepchild....."...
life is a pigsty- ABSOLUTE GENIUS...cinematic and slow....sound of rain and heavy drums featured. my fave.
ill never be anybody's hero now- a but of a plodder....good lyrics. nothing special..a bit of a Quarry track
on the streets i ran- amazing upbeat rock song....name checks Pittsburg, PA..and not in a good way!
to me you are a work of art- erm....midpaced rocker....nothing stands out except a bit of an obvious chorus
i just want to see the boy happy- moz proclaims that his life is worthless to him..he only cares about the happiness of "the boy"..amazing upbeat rock song.
at last i am born- very funny....quirky sort of understated tune..a great closer.....

sorry its so vague..just got back from the listening party.

overall a great, interesting, new kind of moz record that will turn heads

"A song about someone on the internet?" Who must it be - tcham,tcham, thcam, tcham...Julia? The AC? That got my curious nerves on the edge.

I also liked how Pitchforkmedia colourfully described the approach of the album recently.
