Intersting tid bit...
Just got my 20 Gig I-POD this weekend, and upon reading the instructions, I discovered a pseudo-reference to a Smiths song. In the instruction booklet, it tells you how to select a song using your I-Pod. One of the songs they use as an example is Girlfriend in Sonoma (of course a play on Girlfriend in a Coma)!
Thought it was interesting to see the IPod group use a Smiths reference.

unless there was an actual sample song to hear that sounds like "girlfriend in a coma", or unless you know the author's intent, don't be too sure that it's a reference to the smiths.

... for all we know, it could be a reference to the euro boys' "girlfriend in tacoma", which is a different song altogether.
