When i attended the Your Arsenal tour in 1992 at the Tower Theater in Philadelphia the show was cut short due to a mob rush on stage & Morrissey losing a personal item. After he left stage the band played on for a bit, then someone came out & announced that Morrissey lost his ring & if anyone had it to please return it at once. Nobody spoke up & unfortunately the show was over. Eleven years later & still a hugh Morrissey fan a woman i work with came into my office last week & was complimenting my morrissey photos on the wall. She then began to tell me a story of when she attended this Morrissey show in 1992 at the Tower Theater & when he was mobbed on stage his ring rolled off his finger right toward her. She still has it to this day. I explained to her how i was there & that i would love to see the ring. She will not bring it in for me to see of course. She did explain it is a class ring & the stone is a garnet. Supposedly, there is something about Edgewater inscribed on it. If i had that ring i would make sure it got back to him. If anyone was at this show & remembers this scenario, post a message. i want to remember as much as i can.

  • Anyone who was in attendance at that concert could easily claim to be the one who took the ring. Some people will say and/or do anything for their 15 seconds of fame. You can't see it and their are no photos of it. Sounds somewhat fishy if you ask me!

  • If he liked it enough to ask someone to try and get it back, she should DEFinitely give it back!!

    Otherwise she's a big jerk
    and has no respect
and a HUGE lawsuit should be filed against her

    peer pressure also may work

    GIVE IT BACK ya THIEF

  • If so I can see only one course of action open to her.

She must hand this ring over to Mike Joyce immediately.

  • Yes... I was there. Unfortunately, there's not a lot to add to your story; it happened just like you said it did. I don't have fond memories of that show. Though I was able to smuggle a camera in, it proved almost pointless. Most of the seating area was on a flat/level floor - no stadium effect. I was about half way back and saw very little of the show. Attempts to hold the camera above my head and take shots at the stage yielded wonderful photos of hands in the air and the backs of heads. Oh wait... I did however get the inner sleeve of the Your Arsenal album signed by the entire band at that show. Details details.
You'll come 'round to my way of thinking.
  • I wasn't there but I would have been so pissed if someone took Morrisseys ring and the show ended because of that. And if the thief 11 years later went around bragging about it I would kick her ass! hehe

  • I don't wish to sound rude...but a lot of people would like to see Morrissey's ring...

  • What a jerk to brag about this ring! Someone should loot her house and take it. After all these years, you would think the immaturity would wear off and she would attempt to return it.

  • Yes, yes, yes...we should BURN her! We should kidnap her & the ring & have a big procession through the streets of LA which would end at Morrissey's house where there would be a cermonial handing over of the ring to Morrissey & then we should BURN her!
    BURN HER I SAY!

I wasn't aware Morrissey had a class ring. Interesting.

  • I see only one solution.

All members of the Morrissey audience must have their rings inspected by the doorstaff when they enter the venue, and show them again as they leave.

  • ya'll can see my ring if you want. i'm sure it has the same metallic qualities as morrissey's. jeesh people, get over it! by the way, saw moz outside the Supergrass show at the
El Rey in Los Angeles. I made some sort of gushing fan comment and he gave me a look like i was some sort of pathetic loser. funny, I grew up alot that night and learned to stop wasting time on a terminally depressive moper who couldn't give 2 shits for his fans. I still like the music, but as for the man? just another ego-trippin' cock star. cheers!

  • I think she should count herself lucky and blessed - and keep the ring on a velvet pillow next to her bed - or give it to me.

I can place it next to my badly torn black Gucci shirtfront ( Bradford, 2002 ) or give it to my mate Colin to place next to his signed Batersea tambourine that cost him 2 dislocated fingers and a black eye.

Its just a thing, a relic, a piece of rock trivia.

Its not as if she managed to get a finger off, although I can imagine the headlines -

"Finger lost forever in rush to manhandle Morrissey's ring" -

as I type this, The BBC2 news programme is using "How Soon Is Now", " Please Please, Please" " last Night I dreamt" and "Heaven Knows" to commemorate the sacking of the leaderv of the Conservative party.

I almost feel a lump in my throat....

    weird.....
