October 20, 2003 - Wireless Flash From Spongebob To Smiths (link) LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash) -- The folks who work on the animated series, "Spongebob Squarepants," have some strange ways of occupying their spare time -- like stalking the former lead singer of the 1980s band, The Smiths. According to Spongebob animation director Andrew Overtoom, one staff member is such a big Morrissey fan that she still brags about the time she accidentally spilled a drink on the singer in a Los Angeles bar. Overtoom was so inspired by the woman's story that he turned it into a live-action black comedy, "My Life With Morrissey," that is a long way off from "Spongebob's" whimsy. Still, the connection is closer than people realize. Overtoom says many of "Spongebob's" cast and crew worked on his film at times when they were supposed to be working on the cartoon. "My Life With Morrissey" hits DVD Oct. 28 but Overtoom will be pretty busy. He starts work on the "Spongebob Squarepants" movie today (Oct. 20) and expects to be busy until next June. --- An anonymous person also writes: My Life With Morrissey Makes Fark.com! Some of those Fark comments were hilarious.
Can't say I've ever watched a full episode of Spongebob but maybe I'll give it a try.
Poor Robert he's looking like a bad cracked-out drag queen version of himself. Still LUV "Creep" though.
