Last night (9/28), at the Trocadero Theatre in Philadelphia, the rock band Nada Surf covered "There is a light and it never goes out." They played the song very much like the original, it sounded very good. Most of the crowd (maybe 750 people) seemed like they didn't recognize the song. After the show I talked to the singer Matthew and he said he saw the Smiths on the Meat is Murder tour and that he was a big fan. I suggested he listen to some Morrissey solo records. He asked which one to buy...I suggested Viva Hate. He said he would definitely check it out. Nada Surf is an amazing band in their own right, you should check them out!!

  • You're a big enough fan to rehearse and perform a cover song by the Smiths at your all original show, and yet you don't know the solo Morrissey?

    Okie dokie...

  • You should have recommended Bona Drag. Much stronger album. Better than Viva Hate.
