Boz put on a couple of truly rockin' performances in Yokohama this past weekend. I had a lot of fun at the shows. The fans in L.A. can expect a real treat later this month.

I spoke with Boz on Monday night, and he confirmed the rumour that Jerry Finn would be producing the upcoming album. Boz talked about how some of the new songs that are harder and faster, notably "Irish Blood, English Heart" and "I Like You," would benefit from the producer's experience with (pop) punk bands.

Make of it what you will...although I am somewhat non-plussed at the choice of producer, all I can say is at least it isn't Steve "make it bland" Lillywhite.

Although there is enough material for two albums (about 30 tracks), don't expect a double cd; they'll probably only do half the tracks. Recording is scheduled for this October and possibly into November. The new album probably won't be in stores until a couple months down, probably around April 2004. Boz said something like when the album's been this long overdue what's another month or two.

Steve Lillywhite produced the great Vauxhall And I record which is one of the very best records of the last 10 years. To call him bland is plain silly. I have read things on this site about a Christmas themed single for the holidays. Anyone have any info.?

  • wow 30 songs...

    15 for the album...?

    then...

    5 singles each with 2 b-sides...?

    wouldn't be bad, would it?

    Wishful thinking.

  • ...I'm now excited that Jerry Finn is producing. Not because the other bands he's worked with are so great, but it hopefully will be a new sound for Morrissey. I thought the difference between in energy between the live and Radio 6 versions of "I Like You" and "IBEH" was noticable. He needs someone that can capture the raw energy.

I don't, however, care for the Irish Blood, English Heart title for a new album. It's been floating around forever. I want something new and clever.

  • For me, a new album isn't really that exciting on it's own, but a new tour is (so, indirectly, a new album IS exciting... if that makes any sense).

I also don't think that waiting for another coupla months for this album is such a big deal, considering how long it's been since the last one!

It seriously is too bad that Moz won't be doing the Inland Invasion this year though... Would have made the concert just that much better!
