If you needed another reason to dislike Rolling Stone magazine, their most recent issue enumerates the hundred best guitarists of all time, of which Marr is not one. :p

Rolling Stone Magazine's recent list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time doesn't include any mention of Johnny Marr, the rest of the list is truly laughable.

  • Can we start a petition have it sent all round the world to the entire user base in North America, the UK, South America, Europe, Japan, and elsewhere, and forward it to Rolling Stone just like that recall vote for govenor in California?

Can this be done via the internet with "e-signatures" and such?

Let's do it! Let's do it! Right here on this very site.

  • well, besides not including Marr...how about Poison Ivy, Robert Smith, Daniel Ash (as long as he doesn't sing) East Bay Ray, even that nerd from The Violent Femmes deserves a spot.

Kurt Cobain? give me a break, i always thought he was sounded amatuerish, or at the most mediocre.

Jimi Hendrix? how predictable, and boring.

  • Seeing Johnny Marr not being listed among the Top 100 is one thing, as the ROLLING STONE is indeed a corporate wipe-ass magazine, but spotting guitar losers such as Jack White within the Top 20(!) is another! Gimme a f***ing break, but THE WHITE STRIPES -as well as THE STROKES, for Mozzer's sake- are a bunch of untalented wanna-be-musicians, who couldn't write a proper tune to save their lifes. Also the typical "old school" guys like Keith Richards are highly overrated, even though you have to view it all concerning the context of time. In the end, Jimi Hendrix is surely a -maybe- too obvious choice, though I reckon, that hardly anyone was as one with his instrument as Jimi was, without being a HUGE fan. Despite the stupid poll, Johnny Marr reigns supreme anyway. Or should we say reigned, having that mediocre "Boomslang" album in mind?
