Colin Meloy, lead singer of The Decemberists recently covered Morrissey's "Everyday Is Like Sunday" in a solo concert on May 30th at Portland's Le Lazy Lady Lounge. The acoustic cover can be found on file-swapping service SoulSeek (where it is titled "Armageddon"). It's a nice version of the song, and everyone should buy the Decemberists "Castaways and Cutouts" LP. Great stuff.

  • Moz fans will find much to enjoy in the Portland-based band The Decemberists. Meloy is an excellent lyricist and a fine storyteller. His songs are simultaneously captivating, heartbreaking, and whimsical. The band is eminently lovable. I honestly believe that Morrissey fans will treasure them.

  • I had the pleasure of catching them in Boston a few months ago, the lead singer donned a "Queen is Dead" shirt.

Just pleased this band is getting the attention they deserve.
