Genuis Comic book scribe Alan Moore along with artist J.H Williams has had an ongoing reference to Morrissey in the monthly comic book Promethea. The story takes place in 1999 in a world similar but not quite the same as our own. In issue four of the series we see a shot inside the bedroom of the main character - Sophie Bangs (great name eh?) who is the alter ego of Promethea - on her wall is a poster of the pop star 'Les Miserable' who looks more than familiar. Near Profile view - Side burns - quiff, etc. Much later in issue 19 a performance is announced between 'Les Miserable' and another band called 'Limp' - the following is said "Les Miserable's only statement was "The one thing worse than being stalked about is NOT being stalked about" - A few issues later through captions of a TV news program, we learn that Les Miserable has called off the show "following what doctors called a severe bout of elation" "asked to comment Miserable said "We are all of us in Gautier, but some of us look like stars." - its clear that the much modernized quotes, originally by you know who, and imagery and mood are all inspired by Morrissey. Even though its a joke at Mozs expense its all in good fun and quite funny. There are a few issues left before the planned armageddom and the end of the Promethea universe and comic book series. Moore may mention Les Miserable again before then - I'll send a note if its significant enough.

... Who is this 'Alan Moore'? (Score:0)
But for all you non-comic book readers, let's find out who this chap is...
Published by DC Comics/Wildstorm's imprint America's Best Comics (ABC), it is an entire comic imprint created just for british comic writer Alan Moore.
Moore, who broke into the mainstream with titles like 'Miricleman' and 'Swamp Thing' in the 1980's, may be most known for his epic 'Watchmen' for DC.
His graphic 'From Hell' was released as a motion picture in 2001 starring Johnny Depp.
Last month, his ABC title, 'The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen' was also a film (which, in this fellas opinion, not nearly as good as the comic!)
If you would like to read some of this lads tales, I insist you go to your nearest comic shope, or ...um, don't.
Good day.
