Following the news of Morrissey signing to Sanctuary and the airing of the documentary "The Importance Of Being Morrissey", things have slowed down a bit. It's nothing out of the ordinary considering rumors of the new album and a tour in the near future.

Regarding the site, I am asked every so often what the status of the threat of the lawsuit from a couple months ago is. My lawyer has not received any sort of response or follow through from Morrissey's lawyers Tesser & Ruttenberg since then so I think it's safe to assume that the issue is dead and I won't have to mention it again. Where I decide to take the site from here I am still not certain, so for now keep up the good contributions as usual.

  • if the site goes on. I'm saying this just because I like this site so much, and after so many years... Of course that just DavidT can decide on the future of this site, but perhaps I could say a simple word about it - maybe we should see what happened as a part of life, as a part of this site, as a part of being a fan, I don't know - I feel that if we assimilate things through our lives, even the negative things that happen, we grow somehow.

  • Really, David your not the victim. Morrissey is. I mean if someone posted rumors about you you would be pissed too. So, wake up and post factual info not something based on someone elses "rumors." Other than that your doing great.

  • The Truth (Score:0, Redundant)

The bottom line is the legal action fell on its ass because you cant sue someone for printing the truth

There will always be people who think that Morrissey can do no wrong and you can physically beat them around the head with a fact and they STILL wont believe it

Morrisseys' musical genius has never been in doubt, nor his influence on the music industry

That does not mean he is perfect

Fortunately the overwhelming majority of Morrissey fans have informed opinions as was clearly demonstrated by the postings in response to the original question

David Tseng I have met personally and communicated with on many occasions

He is a man of integrity and dedication and has put countless hours into this site and god alone knows how much of his own money

He was ill served by threats of legal action and abusive emails from idiots, some of whom were part of the Morrissey entourage

The fact remains the money from the last tour is still owed to many people

I can think of two crew members who would welcome the opportunity to be called a liar face to face by any of the sycophants who feel we are lying

Its time to move on from this subject and appreciate Davids' work on this site

The legal action was never going to amount to anything as all of us from the last tour knew

I personally emailed Morrisseys representatives on several occasions, received replies and was never once threatened with legal action even though I invited them to sue me

Appreciate David for his hard work and providing an incredibly unique and valuable platform for us all to post, rant, praise, or just simply stay in contact with each other

And those who can do nothing but abuse with no informed opinion, maybe its time you found another artist to pretend to be a fan of

    Peace

Although, I do understand where Morrissey is coming from.. maybe.. I mean, I'm incredibly sensitive, and anytime someone i'm working with does something that i feel 'wronged me', sometimes i totally exclude that person from my life.. I've kicked people out of bands that were with me for 3 years over one tiny tiny argument... It's a tough deal being so sensitive.,

  • I cannot believe the depths people will sink to in the 'internet world' and I find some of the comments above in this topic particularly worrying.

Morrissey continues to be creative. What is so sad and deeply worrying is that people continually, time and time again, try to discredit him, report total untruths, or just publish plain lies.

Be on your guard and don't believe rumours or comments in the messageboard (or on the site) unless they come from Morrissey (via Blossom) or Boz.

There will always be rumours in the music industry, by it's very nature it provokes intrigue and curiosity - not least where Morrissey is concerned. I cannot blame the man for taking offence from time to time, but if the law suit is going no furthur the continuation of this vastly important website must have precedence over Morrissey's occasional objections (after all, he is not - as much as I adore him - reknowned as an entirely reasonable man).
This site is an unequivocal and integral part of being a Morrissey fan today. The work that has been put into it, and that continues to go into it, deserves the utmost commendation, and to a fan such as myself the information it provides is invaluable.
I understand that David must be disenchanted by this unpleasant and hurtful episode, but it is my hope that this website will continue long into the future and that I - amongst others - will continue to be amazed by, and grateful for, the news it provides and the community it represents.
In the event this does tragically herald the end of Morrissey-solo I would like to profoundly thank David, and wish him all the best in future.

  • I wanted to add a few more points into this discussion. We now appear to be heading in the wrong direction. Many of the visitors to this site appear to respect and appreciate the effort and hard work that Mr Tseng has put into making this site just what it is today, however, this is not the point in question.

    1) The owner/publisher of any website has an overall responsibility (as the owner/publisher) for the information (or postings) that are published herein for all the world to read.

    2) If people find particular comments, postings or stories to be offensive (and many already ARE in my opinion) Mr Tseng must monitor and remove these posts as a responsible website owner/publisher within a 'reasonable' amount of time.

If someone writes and asks him to remove a post or comment, which they consider to be a cause for concern, then Mr Tseng also has a duty to that person to remove any offending comments.

    3) If Mr Tseng refuses to remove offending comments, and receives more warning letters, then one course of action is that his legally owned domain name (morrissey-solo.com) will be closed down and put into a holding position on legal grounds. He will then be heading into a lengthy legal process that will, most probably, tie him up in knots for some months.

    4) In serious cases, issues connected to slanderous comments (and general deformation of charactor) may occur and therefore Mr Tseng as the owner/publisher also has a reponsibility to remove these posts within a reasonable period of time to stop this ever becoming a problem.

    5) Mr Tseng HAS been asked to remove posts.

    6) Mr Tseng does NOT appear to be willing to remove ANY posts.

The only outcome therefore is that he will be the loser, for certain, if he continues to carry-on like this !

II: Any expectation outlined in this posting is flawed. As recent details with reporters and their integrity, the CIA, and the "16 Presidental Words" on Weapons of Mass Destruction have revealed, there is no realistic way to circumvent "false/slanderous/etc." postings.

I don't understand why people think that Morrissey has 'threatened and intimidated David' -oh come on - The Communications Decency Act is a difficult one to judge if this did get much further. David really has to be careful.

Morrissey is a 'public' figure (in the eyes of the law) but it would be easy to how 'defendants' acted with malice in publishing the statements in question. David could also have removed them, but deliberately did not. I wonder why David is taking this course of action? He seems to want to let everyone have a chance to say anything - but it is dissapointing that he is. In the end, we will all lose out.

This always seems to happen - Morrissey is right on this one - because everyone dissapoints you and totally let's you down.

But, you dont know the facts and I should underline facts of this case. Therefore you should not post anything of written, verbal, or supposed rumors. It is a slap in the face of someone you claim to love in the first place. If you really loved someone you wouldnt put up post like that one. Im really pleased you think your the victim, but personnally I wish you would just disappear just like the "Ambitious Outsiders" did after stalking Morrissey at his house(yeah real classy move guys)and just disappear. If I were to post rumors about David T. on my site and they were hurtful Im sure you wouldnt be happy. This I am thinking about doing. How about this for starts David T. sits outside of Morrisseys house and stalks him until he has no breath left to breath. Or David T. wants to have gay sex with a man name Jake in San Pedro. You see these types of things could ruin a career. And funny but none of them are true well except for that stalking one, but anyways the point is in your face. And it best can be said like this " Treat someone how you would like to be treated." So, if rumors something which you can't determine or truths or not doesnt bother you, then in your mine you havent done anything, but if they do then here is the gun so you can shoot your own foot.
