The Associated Press reports:

"Actor gears up to release second album
Billy Bob Thornton's rockabilly twang has a new home.

Thornton has signed a recording contract with Sanctuary Records Group, whose artists include Kiss, Morrissey, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Mavericks, Sammy Hagar, The Libertines, The Kills and The Allman Brothers.

His second album, "The Edge of the World," will be released Aug. 5"

This is the most unimpressive roster I've ever seen...aside from Moz of course

  • Take into consideration they also have the Rough Trade label who's roster is amazing as always, i.e the strokes, belle and seb, low and the hidden cameras...Sanctuary themselves also have the Super Furry Animals and Spritualized who's new album 'Amazing Grace' is an album of the year contender.......a super cool label and one that gives unique artists like Morrissey the perfect platform.
    regards!

  • they have some good stuff, it's just hidden better and no-one listens to it. Bert Jansch is on Sanctuary via the Castle Music label, and as far as i'm concerned that's just about as good as it gets. Except the label are just another bunch of arseholes in suits.

  • Super Furry Animals are not on Sanctuary, they're on Sony. Sanctuary seem to be having a Britpop phase, they've recntly signed Ocean Colour Scene and are rumoured to be signing Paul Weller.

  • Any record label with Morrissey, The Libertines amd The Kills on it could hardly be called lame.

    Now could it!!!

  • First of all, who gives a shit who's on Sanctuary, seeing as though "Attack Records will be a reflection of [Morrissey's] creative vision and his exclusive domain."

But I like some of what Sanctuary Records Group puts out. Tricky's new label is a subsidiary. Joey fucking RAMONE's excellent solo album was with them. Pet Shop Boys. Cranberries. Ministry. Hope Sandoval. Pulp. Eddi Reader. Skynard. Lots of stuff. I don't like all of it, but I don't see a Christina Aguilera amongst 'em. See, you might not like all the artists they have, but notice what kind of crap they DON'T have.

  • I dont really think you can call The Libertines unimpressive. tHe Libs made in my opinion one of the best albums of the last few years and have the character and attitude to lift themselves above the cesspit of indie wasters.
