Smiths Special at the National Pop League in Glasgow this Friday (May 30) - loosely to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the release of Hand In Glove, but broadly just to pay tribute to the Smiths who are, by a distance, the biggest hitters at the NPL. We've been taking votes for the past month (top three Smiths songs, if anyone would like to submit) and will play the top ten Smiths songs voted for throughout the evening. I should stress that it's not a full night of Smiths; the rest of the evening will be our usual mix of post punk, c86 and indiepop. But the first fifty people to arrive will get a free Smiths zine and badge, and the first 100 will receive the usual NPL zine, badge and candy pack. We're at the Woodside Social Club at 329 North Woodside Road, Glasgow, and the night runs from 8:45pm till 2am. It costs £2 to get in before 10pm and £3 after. PS for a general indication of what people can expect, past playlists etc can be found here.
