Andy Rourke to DJ at the UK night in Berlin (May 16)

This friday Andy Rourke will play disk jockey at the Grüner Salon Volksbühne (Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz) in Berlin.

Support DJ's will be Mancunian Phil Hopkin from the Going Underground club network Stockholm and Natalie Stardust from the Coney Island series in Berlin.
There will be enough time to talk with Mr Rourke to ask any questions about The Smiths and Morrissey and to get some things signed. Get shirty!

Barbarism begins on the 16th of May 2003 at 11 pm and for me at home. ;)

    Hilary und DJ Padding haben mal wieder was ausgeheckt:

    DJs: Andy Rourke from THE SMITHS, BADLY DRAWN BOY
              Phil Hopkins (ex-Manchester, 'Going Underground'-Stockholm)

    Rockmusiker zu sein und gleichzeitig DJ schließt sich naturgemäß genauso aus wie evangelisch zu sein und an den Papst zu glauben. Oder als Schalke-Fan Borussia Dortmund gut zu finden. Bassisten von legendären 80er Jahre Indie-Bands bilden hier klar die Ausnahme. Nachdem bereits Norman Cook, seinerzeit Bassist der smart-ironischen Housemartins, als Fatboy Slim die Dancefloors eroberte, schickt sich nun eine weitere Indie-Ikone an, die Clubs zu rocken: Andy Rourke, Bassist der Smiths und Backingmusiker für Morrissey und Badly Drawn Boy, kommt nach seinen spektakulären DJ-Gigs in London, Manchester und Stockholm erstmalig am 16. Mai nach Berlin. Im Gegensatz zu Norman Cook ist sich Andy Rourke jedoch musikalisch treu geblieben. Statt Smash House und Big Beat darf sich der Berliner Partygänger also auf Indie und Britpop vom Allerfeinsten freuen.

    Andy Rourkes DJ-Debüt in Berlin ist gleichzeitig Auftakt einer neuen Party-Reihe namens WHATEVER!, die mit internationalen Top-DJs (am 16. 5. ist auch Phil Hopkins/UK & Schweden mit am Start) der angegrauten Berliner Indie-Szene neues Leben einhauchen wird.

  • Das ganze findet also Freitag, 16. Mai, im Grünen Salon der Volksbühne statt, Einlass 23 Uhr und Eintritt 6 Euro.
    Außerdem kann man sich das neue b-side-Heft kostenlos mitnehmen.
