The documentary on Morrissey is out next month for broadcast in the UK. Also tomorrow there is a large article on Morrissey in Word, another UK publication. Update: 05/09 16:35 GMT: Erik sends a scan of the cover, now on the Word magazine site. Morrissey invites Word's Andrew Harrison into his Hollywood home to talk about his return to recording, life in LA, the ongoing court case and his new project, Under The Influence.

This could see more embittered comments like last year's Observer interview. Surely by now there's no need to keep banging on about it? Why have Word even bothered asking him about it? We all know the depressing details and it really drains me when I hear or read Moz harp on about it yet again.

I'm off to the shops in a minute when I get out of college, I'll have a look, but it may be we don't see this until thursday or so.
I looked at the Word magazine website, and it says the new issue is 'out now', so it's anyone's guess. I'd be interested to know whether anyone in the big cities managed to get their mitts on a copy saturday sunday ish..

All the things HE said! (well most of them anyway) (Score:1)
Went into Sainsbury's in Wandsworth yesterday, and spotted 'Word' from fifty paces away. I resisted reading this much anticipated interview until I decided to go to bed - and it was well worth the wait. This is a long interview, and in my humble opinion very very interesting - and probably the best interview since the late 80's.
This is an essential purchase for any collector of Moz memorabillia - which even has a picture of the Smiths I haven't seen before where Moz looks truly dashing and handsome.
Here are some of the more interesting remarks he makes:
In response to the remark that TATU - the two teenage girls who covered 'How Soon Is Now'- are Russian lesbians, he says 'Aren't we all!' (nudge, nudge, wink, wink).
Regarding the Ludus song 'Breaking The Rules' which will be on the 'Under The Influence' cd released in two weeks time, he says, "...I find these lyrics remarkable, suggesting that all forms of love are wonderful, whether it's three women together, four men together - why can it not be so?"
Betraying an incredible snobbishness with regards to regional accents which he can't stand (he thanks God everyday he doesn't sound Mancunian - which obviously is not the case to anyone who has ever heard speak on radio) he then goes onto remark that he can't stand people who say "Actually, yes" when they just mean "yes" or newsreaders who say "Bridish" when they mean "British".
THEN tripping himself up like most conceited English language snobs, he walks straight into a grammatical faux pas which appears on the next page. He says in relation to modern British comedy, "...what I find funny IS things like Alan Bennett, Jo Brand, and Victoria Wood". That should be ARE says someone with a big nose!
The picture of The Smiths, is to me probably the best one I have ever seen - Moz looks absolutely devine - which in my mind is a rarity as he has been badly photographed on many occasions over the past twenty years - but this pic is truly ace. Even more interesting is the fact that Mike Joyce leers behind him, looking like a devilish fiend sitting menacingly on his shoulder - very ominous.
Morrissey goes on to say that he is not well off at all and that Joyce is harassing his mother and his sister (who have had court charges put on their homes by Joyce's lawyers) and his nephews. Apparently Joyce is at every stage door when he is on tour trying to get money out of him. Moz claims to have no more than a Mars bar after settling accounts when a tour ends. Not sure I believe that.
He says he is NOT well off, and constantly worries about the Joyce case and other business pressures. Obviously there is more stuff, but I think I gleaned the most interesting bits.
I wanted to believe ALL the things he said, but the process order he issued to David Tseng the other week would make me question every remark he makes in the media - what's his agenda one could ask? I truly want to believe he is an honest decent human being who once asked Jo Slee to rescue a struggling wasp in a swimming pool, but part of me just thinks he's a dab hand at self promotion and media manipulation at this stage.
