They're having a Mick Ronson day. The newsletter says...

Liz Kershaw will be talking to BERNARD BUTLER about Mick Ronson's lasting influence and Morrissey cohort ALAIN WHYTE will also join Liz to recall the recording of Your Arsenal, which turned out to be the last album Mick produced.http://www.bbc.co.uk/6music/

  • ...record this for me, somehow? Mrs. Shankley, will it maybe be on your site later?
I'll be still at work and won't be able to listen to it live...
I'd be so grateful if anybody could!!

He didn't talk about any new Moz stuff. It was really a tribute discussion about Mick Ronson.
I did email Liz Kershaw, I asked her to ask Alain about any solo stuff he may be working on.
She didn't ask the question, but responded to me saying Alain mentioned something about alain working on a solo project..

  • He kept stressing what a really great and kind man he was, and said that he cried when he died. His Morrissey impersonation was spookily accurate and he told a story about how he once got the rest of the bands to go to Morrissey's room by pretending to be him on some intercom. They got there and Moz said what do you want? I didn't call you. And the band were all embarrassed. He also sang a bit of Sheila take a bow...he didn't sound so much like him then!
He mentioned that Mick Ronson added the Ebo guitars(whatever that means) to Seasick, that was totally him he said. His idea him playing.
He also said he'd be at Salford Lads club on 16th May when Liz does her Smiths programme from there. I've read elsewhere that Andy and Mike will be there. (Or maybe one or the other I forget.) and Peter Hook, and the Buzzcocks and apparently Morrissey and Marr have an invite. Ha fat chance. Liz Kershaw also said that if you want to get onto the guest list for that to e-mail the show and she'd pass it on to Verity who was organising it and she'd let you know.
Anyway it was an interesting interview, Alain came over as a very nice bloke as he always does and he didn't mention not getting paid by Morrissey, seemed to be still friends with him.
Oh the song they played was We Hate it when our Friends Become Successful.
