According to the Chicago Sun-Times (4/20/03), Nancy Sinatra is releasing a new album with a "new" Morrissey song:

Throughout her career, Sinatra has retained a contemporary appreciation society. Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth is a fan. "And Morrissey gave me a new song," Sinatra said.

Frankly speaking, Nancy Sinatra makes the most of her name - Chicago Sun-Times, Apr. 20, 2003

  • Gave her a song, as in lyrics, music...both?

It's not the man himself, but I'll gladly take it.

  • She's going to sing Morrissey's "Panic" and dance around in a go-go dress while trying to recapture her youth! then, when asked if her father had mob ties, she'll say, "Well, in my opinion he WAS the last of the famous international playboys!" To which the media will pounce on like hungry tigers, and print headlines which read "Old Blue Eyes: Playboy or Bunny?"

Morrissey will be blamed for Nancy's lack-luster concert attendance, and she will ask Ricky Martin for future help concerning the media asking those unsavory, yet tricky personal questions.

She should have done a dancing duet with Justin Timberlake. I've heard that she adores Michael Jackson too.

  • I've been listening to the Nancy Sinatra & Lee Hazlewood duets recently ... I really rate Nancy as a singer when she's had good material to work with. I think that Morrissey would be one of the few lyricists who could equal Lee in this regard, so this is great news. How 'bout a Morrissey & Nancy duet ... now that _would_ be something.

  • I think if fookin brilliant that Moz would give a song to Nancy. I personally think that he did that knowing Nancy's the daughter of the toughest "We'll do it my way or I'll break your fookin knees" musician Old blue Eye's imself, Frank Sinatra. And knowing of his ties to the Mob, I think Morrissey must still have some sort of fascination with all that. Just like he did with The Kray's. I totally luv that part of Morrissey myself. Goodun on you Moz!!

In 2002 Nancy & Lee unfolded their plans to record a completely new CD album in Nashville with the help of well-known arranger/conductor Billy Strange. Interesting detail is that Duane Eddy plays guitar on one of the tracks. The release date is scheduled for May 2003. Nancy and Lee have plans to do a promotional tour in Europe (including the U.K. and Scandinavia) during the summer.
Nancy Sinatra seems to be working on a compilation 2CD set with the working title 'Nancy & Lee for the record' which includes not only the original albums 'Nancy & Lee' (originally issued on the Reprise label in 1968) and 'Nancy & Lee again' (also known as 'Did you ever?' and originally issued on the RCA Victor label in 1972) but surprisingly also some unknown previously unissued bonus tracks. Nancy declared last year that she and Lee will record some new songs for this 2CD set. The release date is scheduled for mid 2003.

  • What if... Nancy wrote a song inspired by Morrissey that makes fun of him in everyway & THAT is what she meant by "Morrissey gave me a new song."

Not any NEW song we have never heard, just something she came up with...

I guess we might hear her song before any newer Morrissey material...

  • Nancy Sinatra was in a movie called "Speedway" which also starred Elvis Presley. Not a very good movie, but good enough for Moz to name a song after it. She's just returning the favour.
