Johnny Marr appeared on the Sky Sports Saturday morning football TV show 'Soccer AM', 5th April. He was being asked about the possibility of reunions of certain bands, ie. he said that The Stone Roses had a good 60% chance of re-forming and ofcourse the presenter asked him what percentage for The Smiths to which Johnny replied, "A big whopping 0.5%" to which the presenter screamed, "So there is a chance!!!"

  • A 1-in-200 chance they'll reform, then! Not bad.

  • A Smiths reunion can only result in a massive disappointment. Expectations will be too high!

And then what? Can anyone imagine anything more horrible than an unsuccesfull Smiths reunion? The magic surrounding them will be gone forever, and their musical heritage will be tainted.

    What a nightmare...

It is a very mixed blessing to be brought back from the dead.
  • I think Moz put it best back in '94 when he said if they were to work together again it would be as 'Morrissey & Marr' and not The Smiths.

  • Not as The Smiths (Score:1, Informative)

Johnny stated in that Mirror article a few months back (which I have) that it might be interesting to work with Morrissey again in the future. I can't see The Smiths (with Rourke & Joyce) ever reforming but I honestly believe they'll work together again one day, in some capacity.

Morrissey doesn't look like he'll get a deal anytime soon and Johnny's Healers aren't exactly tearing the house down. Record companies would be chomping at the bit for a Morrissey/Marr album.

  • On the front: "The Smiths? No, and that's my final answer".

On the back: "And, Morrissey? Don't call us, we'll call you".

  • I knew they would never reform again since Electronica. MOrrissey's good on his own anyway. they really still do each other well. Morrissey looks more mucho macho now any way. Smiths was there great youth Gone wild.
