ON VH1 CLASSIC:

VH1 Classic premieres "Headline Act" with famed guitarist Johnny Marr, best known for his work with the seminal 80s band The Smiths. The half-hour block features classic Smiths videos and an exclusive interview with Marr who stops by the VH1 Classic studio to talk about his successes with The Smiths and his new release "Boomslang" with his new band The Healers. Videos include: "How Soon Is Now?" "Panic," "Sheila Take A Bow," "Girlfriend In A Coma," "This Charming Man," "Stop Me If You've Heard This One Before" and "Shoplifters of the World Unite." Marr tells VH1 Classic that he and The Smiths' lead singer/songwriter Morrissey shared something very special: "I think the combination of Morrissey and myself together was pretty magic(al). Because even though we are very much obviously on the surface different people, the most important thing to us individually that was inside us was shared with each other and felt like we didn't share with anyone else on the planet."

(Premieres at 7:00 p.m.)

  • I went to VH1 online and couldn't find any info about this. Don't get your hopes too high.

  • Headline Act is listed as Monday, March 10 at 7:00 p.m.; however, it is also listed as Monday, March 10 at 11:00 a.m. (EST). Then, I don't get VH1 Classic and am looking for someone to tape it. It's kind of hard when you can't tell them a difinitive time.

  • My sister and I were casually flipping through the channels today, and unexpectedly came across the "Stop Me..." video. You can imagine my reaction! That's not something I see every day! Then again, it is VH1 Classic. So, we waited and watched in anticipation, hoping to hear something from the charming man himself...But only Marr. But I must say that it was a great interview, and the videos gave me chills, as they always do! I'm going to record the next showing, so if anyone wants a copy, let Lady Gaz know!
    With incredible style,

I still don't belong to anyone: I am mine.
  • Glad I captured this special. Two rare videos were played "The Boy With The Thorn In His Side" and "Sheila Take A Bow." I thought both would be TOTP clips, but they weren't.

If anyone is interested in mpegs of these, please e-mail me.
