Today at the Swedish radio show "Ketchup Fanclub" Joel Madden, the singer of the band Good Charlotte listed "How Soon Is Now?" as the best song in history. He also said that he loves Morrissey and The Smiths.

  • The worst Smiths song for the worst band at the moment. They should cover it.

  • Wow...nothing but negative comments. GC may not be the coolest band out there...but they ARE doing THEIR thing...kinda like Morrissey did his! Right?! And if they give props to the old man in my head...shouldn't you smile in conceit?! We are in fact all part of one big happy family! Rock on GC.

  • because they're just saying they like the Smiths because its cool, like smoking a cigarette and being like that Dean guy who was a rebel in that movie about him.

  • what's with all these sorry-ass bands claiming to love the smiths and moz. i'm sure they really do like the music, but seriously, they shouldn't make such crappy music if they have such brilliant influences. i don't mean to be a jerk, but good charlotte is one of the most pathetic bands out there today and while it's cool that they're getting moz's name out there, it still turns my stomach to have the two in any way associated.

  • to laugh, it's so easy to hate. It takes strength to be gentle and kind.

How many of us out there are totally different but get along solely based on our mutual love of St. Steven of Manchester?

Get over it. If we got famous doing whatever lame thing it is we do for a job, we would be praising him all over the place, too.

  • Well, I am not gonna lie at one point "GC" first album did happen to cross my path. This was a year or two ago when one of their first songs "Little Things" got very little radio air play. However I did a little research on them, finding out that two members in the group are twins, That they are from the East coast and lastly that the lead singer was a morrissey & smiths fan.

Yeah to my surprise being I also like moz however I believe he might of even mentioned it in the liner notes on their first cd. I could be mistaken but the point is IM not here to defend nor talk sh!t. I am just stating that this most likely is not an overnight decision for him to say he likes our Moz.

All I can say in a good perceptive is every artist is an artist, Music is Music, there is enough to go around, To each their own and there is something for everyone.

I just was wondering when the Moz-solo community would bring this to light .. or should i say "When the Sh!t would hit the Fan"

  • 6 months ago i would have have nothing positve to say about Good Charlotte. I do however, for some reason have a certain respect for them now. I'm not sure why, but they write some catchy tunes and are simply four young guys enjoying themselves and making a living. I would have given my right arm to be in a successful rock group at their age and to have a mass of adoring fans. So would most of you out there! Yes it may not be to your taste but who cares, they young, successful and have far more to show for their lives than the majority of you....

  • first off, if your gonna pick a smiths song to like at least pick one that isnt a single and is not one of the most commenly known smiths songs out there!! of course they would say how soon is now is one of the most greatest songs of all time because they are probably posers. any real fan would know that there are tons of other great smiths songs besides how soon is now. GC is a dispicable band in the first place, they dont even deserve to be worth mentioning here on this site, they belong over in the teeny bopper sites where all the mindless teenagers can drewl over them. GC liking the smiths/morrissey gives morrissey a bad name!

  • Fuck you all. Morrissey can't be mentioned by any band, whether it be New Found Glory or Good Charlotte, because the first thing you do is condemn their comments.

Morrissey does not belong to you, as you might think. You guys act like jealous boyfriends when artists mention Morrissey, as if you were the only ones in this universe that should have the privilege.

I'm beginning to believe that theory that Morrissey fans are depressed and lonely is true. A lot of you prove it.

    Get help quickly!

  • Thanks! Now I can get back to crying! Oh Moz, when will thoust come for me and ME alone?
Oh well, if they say they like Moz, then How about if we Anti-New Kid-Friendly bands decide to track 'e down and tell them they stink?!
You guys go... but Oh, I'm too tired ...let 'em go, the world is full of crashing boars anyway...

    Now for something completely different:
I liked AFI a while back, I though they were boss.
But ya know what? Now they sound different. I PERSONALLY don't like 'em anymore, as well as what they have become. Does that make me a shallow music guy? Probably.

Hmm, we all have to GROW UP sometime soon...
but then again, how soon is now?

Now here's a thought (ouch) do ya think Moz likes 'em?

    Now THAT'S a thinker...

  • bloody yanks. they [a lot of them] just don't get it. good charlotte just about sum up the type. and while we're on the subject of hsin, why is that cover used as the theme to 'charmed'? what does "I'm human and need to be loved" have to do with that show? a plea for more tolerance towards witches?

  • I really don't understand why all these people have a problem with Joel expressing his musical influences. Just because he likes Morrissey/The Smiths, it doesn't mean that his music has to sound like Morrissey/The Smiths. How would you reply if someone like Robert Smith had made these comments about Morrissey? It's true that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but no one person owns Morrissey to be saying who can/can't listen or mention Morrissey/The Smiths.
