Johnny Marr is briefly interviewed in the latest edition of Record Collector magazine (article not published online) about his new album with the Healers, but tellingly replies to the final question about a possible future reunion with Morrissey with the words:

'God, I hope not'.

Johnny Marr & The Healers officially entered the UK chart at number 78 with their debut single "Bangin' On". Just a bit related to the poll - would Morrissey reach the top 40?

Guitarist Johnny Marr Plugging New Band

Jan 23, 12:16 PM EST

Guitarist Johnny Marr of the British pop band The Smiths has put together a new band called Johnny Marr and the Healers.

Marr said he doesn't talk to The Smiths lead singer Morrissey but as he puts it, "There's not talking and then there's not talking." He said it's not so much about attitude as much as he has lots of friends he doesn't talk to any more.

Marr said people make a big deal about him supposedly having a feud with Morrissey when they were probably the closest ones in the band. He said he's got more issues with the other guys in The Smiths than Morrissey.

Still, he's moved on, but some fans haven't. When asked what he could buy if he had a dollar for every time someone asked him if The Smiths were getting back together, Marr said, "A shotgun. And turn it on myself."

  • Actually "The Last Ride" was the Healers first single, released in 2002.

  • I can see now the chemistry that Marr and Moz used to have, they have both the same wicked sense of humor, Marr's comments are hysterical

  • .. Moz's single should do better then. #78 is not terribly impressive (in today's marketplace, maybe it is), but one would think a Moz single would be an easy Top 40, if a Marr single can land at 78.

Granted, that's if Moz doesn't screw it up some how, as he liked to do in the past.
