i can't imagine an album like "Moving Pictures" by Rush not being on this list but Rhino doesn't sell that record.

The Smiths could have had double, nah, triple the releases they did... Releasing an album every two years, they could have had something close to 20 albums. Then we could just sit back & wait for the red and blue CD case re-releases that we'd all buy like the Beatles have.

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is the greatest album of all time?
I guess that's why Jessica Simpson and that little spiked haired wuss who placed 2nd on American Idol have been on the cover of the rag 2 of the last few issues.
David T., here is a new mandate: Don't put anything that has to do with Rolling Stone magazine on this website any more.
Just read the RS list and get ready to shake your head in utter dismay at how dead wrong they are.
Are there any Belle & Sebastian or Cure or Trashcan Sinatras albums on the list?
I am a pretty fair and positive person, but this continued pandering to Sgt. Pepp. and Pet Sounds serves...what point? (Not to say those aren't great albums, but they're not even in the Top 50 in my opinion.)
And then, of course, Nevermind in the Top 20.
It is officially time for a musical revolution...

A place where we can express our feelings about certain topics.
This topic regards Rolling Stone's "list of the top 500 albums of all time."
Many of you disagree. Well, then if you disagree, then so be it. I'm not pissed.
I, for one, am please pleased with the magazine's decision to place The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band at the #1 spot, as well as Revolver at #3, Rubber Soul at #5, White Album at #10, Abbey Road at #14, Please Please Me at #39, and Let It Be at #86!
Then again, there is no other band in history that has brought more people together than the music of the Beatles. Everyone on Earth has heard of them. I don't think any other band has ever had a bigger fanbase than the four lads from Liverpool. Both my parents are from Mexico, and they've been listening to them since 1964 (in Mexico they are bleeding HUGE) and even to this day, are still [lifelong] fans.
Hell, I cried when I heard about George Harrison's death. I literally grew up with their music, and I've liked them alot longer than Morrissey and the Smiths ...but that doesn't mean that I don't love Moz and the boys. I do, but, really, ask anyone (yes, even here in LA!) to name a Smiths or Moz song other How Soon Is Now? or Everyday Is Like Sunday, and most of the bleeding time you don't get that response you want to hear.
Then ask the same person to name a Beatles tune and they will ask you 'from which album?'
So, in closing, I know I am not alone.
There are those who agree with me, those will disagree with me, and those who will tell me to 'shut the fuck up about the beatles'.
I've said my peace.

I hold no merit to that list other than a motive to sell issues. Rolling Stone are a bunch of hippies that were given jobs and became yuppies. I'll bet they haven't listened to half the records they reviewed.
