Sorry to report I just received phone message from Tickets West that Spokane show 8/31 has been cancelled. Hope this isn't beginning of a trend.

  • does this anything have to do with ticket prices being so low?
originally they were posted as $29.50 but went on sale for $17.50

  • I am sad that I won't see Morrissey in Spokane, I was looking forward to this show. However, let's hope that this is the last of such cancellations. (I literally knocked on wood after typing that.)

  • I just got word that we should expect a *postponement* of the tour in the next few days, unless a lot of pieces fall into place. I hope that this is announced well in advance of people getting in cars and on planes. Apparently, the tour WILL go on sometime in the fall. It's my understanding that the tour manager quit about a week ago, leaving everything in a shambles.

Everyone should just chill out. If he's gonna cancel, then just wait until he does, before you freak out. I would not take anything you see posted on these message boards too seriously, unless it is posted from David. Maybe he just did not sell many tickets to this show.....??? Shows do get cancelled for that reason. We will see.

  • If these rumors are true, I will be pretty disappointed. But I made my reservations for Colorado Springs knowing that there was probably a 50 percent chance of a cancellation. I have friends in Denver, so if it got cancelled I knew I would have something to fall back on.

Here's the thing: I am not pissed that that this show got cancelled, or if indeed the tour is postponed. Disappointed, yes. But I think it is awful that there is no "official word" about why. How about one thoughtful letter, huh? Couldn't morrissey just issue something to this web site or morrisseytour.com that says "I apologize. Here's why it happened and here's what is happening for the rest of the tour." Now *that* is respect for the fans. Cancellations happen. Tour managers quit, singers get sick, guitarists hurt their backs. But, hey, it's just common decency to not keep people in the dark when he knows that people will be travelling far to see him...or have been planning their lives around when to see him.

Incidently, I really am not in the camp of believing that Morrissey owes me or any fan anything...artisically speaking. If he reissues old songs, it's up to me to buy it. If he goes on tour with old songs, it's up to me to go (and take my chances about it getting cancelled). If he releases a song that's utter crap, oh well. In this case it would just be nice to tell us what's going on as soon as possible.

  • Could the cancelled show have anything to do with Morrissey not being able to find an opening act on time? This could be possible considering Sack can't do the tour again due to financial reasons [morrissey-solo.com], and with such little time left, finding another opener right now might be a little difficult (short notices and all).

  • It's just ONE show that's relatively late down the line. If there was a problem drastic enough to cancel/postpone the entire tour, wouldn't they make one annoucement instead of cancelling dates in dribs and drabs? There could be problems with the venue, any number of things.

Oh, and tickets sales *are* strong (regardless of what some naysayers are posting.) Four shows already sold out and, according to the McDonald Theater, tickets for the show here in Eugene are going "very quickly."

So, until someone WITH AUTHORITY says otherwise, chill. Besides, it's a beautiful day outside...
