  • How big is it? Is it easy to get to? I'm driving in for the show. Got directions?

  • It's about the size of a medium size opera house....or a very large movie theatre. Room for about 250 or so in the open area up front and it has quite a long stage. The floor angles up in the back so you have a good view even while sitting. There's a big marquee out front and it's located at a hairy intersection where Broadway turns into Congress and 4th Ave turns into Congress as well. Or you can go off on Toole....Either coming west on 4th or Congress you come out of underpasses and it's right there on the corner. Just across from the historical Hotel Congress. A great place to stay. Lots of history and class. Visit their website if you'd like to see what the rooms are like. Old school radios and bathrooms...etc....They also offer hostel rates, so it's quite a bargain. Pretty much the only good club consistantly in Tucson, and it is actually where most low budget bands stay when they come here. Otherwise I see Morrissey staying at a resort like La Paloma or Canyon Ranch. I've gotten the opportunity to do after hours upstairs with some cool bands like Man or Astoman?, Combustible Edison, Cake, Dead Milkmen, Johnathan Richmond just because I was standing around talking to them....bands that were still doing the mini van thing at the time. So who knows...maybe the rest of the band will stay there. Boz could do a show there Thursday...hmmmmm.....
As far as meeting, that would be most perfect since it is directly accross the street, there are windows in the bar if you want to look outside for someone you're meeting in line..etc...
They do have great food there too if you are in the mood for something eclectic but reasonably priced. Wednesday is live band night over the summer. They usually have drink specials and there's a big lobby with tables and sofas you can drink at if you don't want to pay a cover. There's also a tap room with an excellent jukebox (plays 45's!!). Full bar, lots of imports and Guinness on tap...mmmmmm.... Further down Congress there are several other bars but none with as much to offer. Grill is good for after 1am as they serve food all night. Not much else besides Denny's at that time.

    Any more questions?

  • Has anyone bought these "Fans First" tickets? Do they say something special on the ticket face? I bought my ticket before Fans First was available, and now I don't know if I should buy another Fans First ticket and try to get rid of my other ticket. I was planning to wait in line before the show, but will the Fans First people be able to go in front of all of us who wait in line all day? I don't know what to do now! Help!

  • I have 2 tickets. I can sell you one (or both) for $25 each. Thats $5 off the price. I paid $30.00 plus the service fees of $6.60 and shipping and handling. I live in San Antonio, TX and can no longer make it to the show. Let me know. I have 2 tickets to Phoenix for $28 also.
Please consider buying from me instead of ticketmaster, its depressing enough not to see him and then losing on these tickets will hurt even more.

  • Hey James,
Since you live there, I was thinking you could set up some kind of meeting place in the afternoon before the show (if you don't mind). Also, Have I met you? My name is Ian and I lived there for 18 years (up until december 1998). I hate to ask you to think of a place, but you know the city better then most of us.

    Thanks,
    Ian C.

  • For those of you who might be interested, the Asylum Nightclub at 121 E. Congress (About 2 blocks west of the Rialto) offers a Brit Pop night on Thursdays, an 80s night on Fridays, and an Industrial/EBM/Synthpop night on Saturdays. We are currently looking into offering a special for the night of the show for those who want to drop in afterwards. You can stay posted at:

  • I was at Congress the other night and found out that they planned a new band showcase for the 7th, the original date of the Tucson show, in which 4 local bands were going to do Smiths songs. The show is still going on, featuring the DeLudes, the Yellow Cabs and Lloyd Dobler and the Gaylords(featuring some guy who looks just like Andy Dick...if you've been to Congress, you know who I'm talking about....). Cover is $3, not sure how many Smiths songs they will do since there won't be droves of fans across the street.
Saturday is Techno night at Congress. Asylum is Industrial on Sat. They still haven't changed anything on their web site. I asked a lobby bartender at Congress and he said the bar is usually set up at 5 or 6 on Saturdays. This is an ideal place as you can still walk around with your drink and look out the multiple windows if you want to see what's happening across the street at Rialto. The tap room is open all day and there is a nice little restaurant inside if anyone's hungry. They serve alcohol in there but it's kind of crowded. The lobby has tables and long benches for hanging out, as well as a bar with stools. See the other post in the Tucson section for more descriptions.
I'm going to be at the Rialto tomorrow night so I'll ask the owner Jeb for any more details about the show. I'll try to make it over to Asylum as well to see if the Saturday night DJ's are going to be changing their set list.
So Congress looks like the ideal logical place to go for pre-show. Am going to the Phx Moz show the night before and will also try to ask people what they think about meeting there. I'll give you my email and if you want to contact me.

  • Hi!

Is anyone selling tickets to this show? I was trying to purchase them from the Ticketmaster website but it said that they were "unavailable." So I'm pretty bummed. If anyone would like to sell me tix, considering the fact that the show falls on my B-Day, please let me know! Thanks so much!

  • Can someone going to this show keep track of the intermission music played between King Cheetah's and Moz's sets and list the songs later? Cheers!
